Customer Vision
Having moved into my house in the spring I had always wanted to be out in the garden as much as possible. As my garden is south-facing it became apparent very quickly that not only did the garden become unbearable in the heat, but that the inside of my home did too.
I had seen some DIY awnings in the past but just saw them as a very unattractive and cheap looking product. I had tried using a large parasol which worked ok but had to be moved around throughout the day to keep me shaded. When it failed to keep the sun off the inside of my living room I decided to look into getting a long term solution that would resolve both issues.
The Design
When we met Mrs Harris we realised immediately that she knew what she was looking for. Despite this, she still had some confusion around her options as she had been overloaded with information from questionable sales pitches and different websites.
We – at The Glass Room Company – managed to offer Mrs Harris a suitable solution to both of her issues by installing a full cassette awning across the width of her home, with a three metre projection. The full cassette awning was not only aesthetically more attractive, but from a practical perspective, it protected the material during winter, offering a longer life expectancy altogether.
By offering Mrs Harris a larger projection than other companies had recommended, the sunlight was kept out of her living room, whilst still allowing plenty of natural daylight into the room.
